ELMS – Race Performance leads the tests at Spielberg

Race Performance showed good pace on the No. 03 Oreca 34-Judd during free practice for theELMS au Red Bull Ring. Patric Niederhauser set the benchmark time with a lap completed in 1'24"710, almost two tenths better than the Oreca 03 of Thiriet by TDS Racing at the head of the Championship driven by Mathias Bèche and Pierre Thiriet. The Zytek of Jota Sport (the only Z11SN in the field this weekend following the withdrawal of Greaves Motorsport) driven by Oliver Rurvey completes the top three of the LMP2s ahead of the Oreca 03s of Murphy Prorotypes and Boutsen Ginion Racing. After a second time achieved in the first session by Nelson Panciatici (two tenths behind the Oreca 03 of Thiriet by TDS Racing), theAlpine A450 was further behind this afternoon, the strong heat having changed the hierarchy.

Nicolas Verdonck set the best time in the LMPC in the #09 FLM47 with a time of 1’28”988. JMW Motorsport achieved the benchmark GTE time with the Ferrari 458 Italia by Andrea Bertolini and Joël Camathias. SMP Racing dominated testing in the GTC category.

However, the latest weather forecasts predict the risk of thunderstorms for the weekend. The teams therefore completed their tests with the greatest uncertainty regarding the track conditions encountered tomorrow.
