ELMS – Romain Dumas: “The Norma M30 will be able to win very quickly”

Very close to Norbert Santos, with whose help he won Pikes Peak, Romain Dumas carried out the first tests of the new Norma M30 LM P3, which is due to debut in competition this season.

It is on the slopes of Pau and Nogaro that the world champion WEC and winner of the last 24 Hours of Le Mans was able to familiarize himself with the M30, whose first spins seemed to have given him satisfaction.

« The tests were more than positive. It is indisputable. The reliability of the car has been impressive and truly exemplary. We drove non-stop to try to detect a possible juvenile problem. But in addition, I was surprised by the quality of finish of the car even if I knew the project and the ambition linked to it, admits Romain Dumas.

The driving sensations were immediately very good. The M30 has a very good front end which reminds me of the LM P2s of a few years ago. The mechanical grip is incredible, and we had no traction problems with either new or old tires. »

The Norma M30 will have to face the Ligier JS P3, which was a great success with the teams last year, and which will be able to count on the racing experience of a full year spent on international circuits, to develop the performance and reliability.

Despite this competition which promises to be tough, Romain Dumas does not seem worried about the future of the M30, operated in ELMS by Oregon Racing and Mr. Racing YMR.

“Its performance will only improve in the coming weeks and months,” says Dumas. But from what I have already seen from the current bases and with the next work of the teams and drivers, I know that she will be able to win very quickly..."
