ELMS – Signatech-Alpine wins at the Red Bull Ring

The 4 Hours of Red Bull Ring were won by Signatech-Alpine driven by Paul-Loup Chatin, Nelson Panciatici and Oliver Webb, at the end of a long fight against the Zytek-Nissan of Jota Sport of Simon Dolan, Oliver Turvey and Harry Tincknell, author of the pole. Oliver Webb managed to gain the advantage from Simon Dolan in the final part of the race to win by just 12 seconds. The Race Performance Oreca 03-Judd entrusted to Franck Mailleux and Michel Frey completed the podium 18 seconds from victory, preceding the Greaves Motorsport Zytek-Nissan of Luciano Bacheta and Mark Shulzhitskiy.

The Newblood by Morand Racing had a disappointing race. Even though the Morgan-Judd of Christian Klien, Gary Hirsch and Pierre Ragues finished in the top five, the No. 43 reached the finish line two laps late following a mechanical problem and a two-minute penalty. But the big loser of the weekend is Thiriet by TDS Racing. The victorious team last year on the Spielberg circuit, entered this season with a Ligier JSP2 entrusted to Pierre Thiriet, Ludovic Badey and Tristan Gommendy, retired following a brake disc problem. The French structure thus loses the lead in the Championship to the benefit of Signatech.

Despite the new Performance Balance intended to disadvantage them, Ferrari once again dominated the GT. The GTE victory went to AF Corse with the #55 of Duncan Cameron, Matt Griffin and Michele Rugolo taking the lead from the #81 of Kessel Racing of Thomas Kemenater and Matteo Cressoni. JMW Motorsport completes the podium with the #66 of Daniel McKenzie, George Richardson and Rob Bell. SMP Racing achieves a double in GTC with the victory of the No. 71 of Kirill Ladygin, Aleksey Basov and Luca Persiani ahead of the No. 73 of Olivier Beretta, David Markozov and Anton Ladygin.
