ELMS – Thiriet by TDS wins at Imola

After their victory at Silverstone to open the 2016 European season Le Mans Series, Simon Dolan, Giedo van der Garde and Harry Tincknell will make the pass of two at the wheel of their Gibson 015S n°38 on the Imola track in Italy.

Victory in trans landalpine returned at the end of an event largely disrupted in its final part by rain, with a Full Course Yellow then the safety car regime until the checkered flag, at the Oreca 05-Nissan du Thiriet by TDS Racing of Mathias Beche, Pierre Thiriet and Ryo Hirakawa.

The French team is ahead of the Gibson n°38 and the Oreca 05 of the DragonSpeed Stone-Hedman-Hanley, who started from pole position. SMP Racing took fourth position with the #01 BR 32 of Coletti – Leal – Wirth ahead of the Eurasia Motorsport Oreca 05 of Gommendy – De Bruijn – JunJin. Olivier Pla, and his teammates Niclas Jönsson and Bjorn Wirdheim hoist the first Krohn Racing Ligier JS P2 into sixth position ahead of the Panis-Barthez Compétition sister car of Barthez – Buret – Chatin, which largely animated the start of the race.

In LM P3, United Autosports signs a second success after Silverstone with the Ligier JS P3 n°2 of Alex Brundle, Mike Guasch and Christian England. The French prototype was, however, beaten in the ranking by the first GTE, la Porsche 911 RSR n°77 du Proton Competition de Hedlund – Renauer – Henzler. Eurointernational and Panis-Barthez Competition in LM P3 and the Ferrari 458 Italia from JMW Motorsport and AT Racing in GTE complete the Italian podiums.
