ELMS – United Autosports will enter two Ligiers in 2018

United Autosports will field two Ligier JS P217s during the next season of theELMS. The American team, victorious at the 4 Hours of Silverstone (Great Britain) at the start of the year, is currently competing for the title with Filipe Albuquerque, Will Owen and Hugo de Sadeleer who are 18 points behind Léo Roussel and Memo Rojas, the drivers of the G-Drive Racing Oreca 07, before the final contested in Portimao (Portugal) on October 22.

Phil Hanson, reigning LM P3 category champion in the Asian Le Mans Series and youngest driver to finish in the top ten at the 24 Hours of Le Mans at just 17 years old (with Tockwith Motorsports), is the first driver confirmed for the 2018 ELMS season. The Briton will also compete in the 24 Hours of Daytona (Florida) next January alongside Lando Norris. The crew should be completed by Fernando Alonso.

“Even though he is still a beginner in prototype racing, Phil has shown great pace in the events he has competed in so far. He can only progress with a good testing program. He has experience of the car and the circuits of the ELMS and the 24 Hours of Le Mans. I'm sure he'll get used to the Daytona track quickly." commented Richard Dean, co-owner and director of United Autosports.

United Autosports also fields two Ligier JS P3s in ELMS. She also leads the category with John Falb and Sean Rayhall after having already won the LM P3 title last year with Alex Brundle, Christian England and Michael Guasch.
