ELMS – Villorba Corse unveils its crew for 2017

Villorba Corsica concluded its season ELMS at the 4 Hours of Estoril taking eighth place in the LMP3 class with Roberto Lacorte and Giorgio Sernagiotto. If the Italian team only took 17th place in the category standings, it will move to the LMP2 category next year by placing its trust in Dallara.

The team has confirmed its crew for 2017. Roberto Lacorte and Giorgio Sernagiotto will continue to team up alongside Andrea Belicchi, author of several starts in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The 39-year-old Italian was able to discover the Dallara during a test session carried out on the Varano de Melegari circuit at the end of September.

“This entirely Italian project (car, drivers and team) is truly fascinating, recognized Andrea Belicchi. I lacked this experience in my career because until now I have only ridden with foreign teams. I have known Sernagiotto for a while and my meeting with Lacorte was very positive. I immediately felt good within the team during the first shakedown of the Dallara which impressed me. »

“LMP2 is a big step in my career, confided Giorgio Sernagiotto. It's a goal I've been aiming for for years. It is a project started with Roberto Lacorte in 2011 which is becoming reality. For the first time in my career, I will be able to express myself at the highest levels. I have to thank Roberto for everything we have done together so far and what we will do in the coming years, Andrea Belicchi who has been a friend since our years in karting who agreed to take on a 100% Italian challenge and Villorba Corse which is a true excellence in Italian motorsport. »

“We are delighted to confirm Sernagiotto for our 3rd season together, commented Raimondo Amadio, Team Principal of Villorba Corse. His presence in LMP2 is very important. He has lived the “Road to Le Mans” project from the very beginning, behind the wheel and outside, and he will contribute to our future success. Belicchi's arrival gives Villorba every reason to be proud. His career and his record are not in question and our team can and must learn from his long experience in endurance. »
