And in the end… United Autosports wins at Le Castellet!

And at the end…. It is not Germany, but United Autosports which wins. As in the two previous rounds and as expected. Except that in reality, the epilogue does not reflect the plot of history, like certain successes of Germany in football.

United took the lead three minutes from time thanks to a pass by Felipe Albuquerque on Jean-Eric Vergne (G-Drive), after a crazy race.

Starting at the front of the line, United and G-Drive found themselves separated at the end of the first lap by the Duqueine Team. In the rain, United took off. So far, nothing unusual.

But against all expectations, the British team decided at its first stop, quite late, to switch to slick tires, while the others put on intermediates. A daring bet, especially since she put her two cars in the same basket. The bet looked like a losing one.

At the exit, they returned almost ten seconds per lap to the best and found themselves at the bottom of the ranking. “It was horrible for us, we made a mistake, we have to admit it.” Albuquerque said as he got out of the car.  “When I took over, it was to attack and see what happened but I didn’t think I would be fighting for first place. »

Oreca No. 22 was saved by the safety car bell. Just before taking a spin, the safety car intervened and allowed her to get back into the game, at the last minute. An hour from the end, a second safety car brought her definitively back into the leading group. But nothing was done.

His first personal feat was managing to save his tires to refuel one last time just thirty-five minutes from the goal. Totally unexpectedly, we found ourselves with a duel between United and G-Drive, as at the start.

The Russians seemed to have taken the advantage through better supplies. But guided by fresher tires, Felipe Albuquerque made up the ten seconds that separated him from Jean-Eric Vergne before overtaking him in the money time.

In the end, United Autosport won its third success in three races (including two for the No. 22) and G-Drive Racing was passed over the gong even though it thought it had done the hardest part. At Spa, she was out following an accident involving Mikkel Jensen. And in the end Graff Racing brings home a podium thanks to James Allen, Thomas Laurent and Alexandre Cougnaud.

In LMP3, for once, the fight was close at the front. The Real Team of Esteban Garcia and David Droux won for the first time in its history in ELMS, with the French TDS team behind the scenes. She finished three seconds ahead of the United Autosport of Duncan Tappy and Andrew Bentley. The Inter Europol Competition of Nigel Moore and Martin Hippe completes the podium which is held in five seconds. Three Ligiers share the box.

In GTE, the Ferrari Iron Lynx of girls Michelle Gating, Rahel Frey and Manuela Gostner held the lead for a long time but ultimately finished third. Spirit of Race won thanks to Matthew Griffin, Duncan Cameron and Aaron Scott ahead of another Kessel Racing Ferrari driven by David Perel and Michael Broniszewski.

The complete classification of the race.
