Jamin joins Panis Racing with Canal and Stevens

Without Fabien Barthez, but still with Toulouse's Sarah and Simon Abadie from Tech 1, the Panis Racing team will compete in the European Le Mans Series (ELMS) once again in 2020. The former pilot of Formula 1 will field an Oreca 07 in the LM P2 class for two Frenchmen and one Englishman.

The main novelty concerns the arrival of Nicolas Jamin in the crew. The 24-year-old from Rouen has already experiencedEndurance and the Oreca prototype through two seasons in ELMS and a start at the 24 Hours of Le Mans with Duqueine Engineering (7th in 2019 at Le Mans). “I was very warmly welcomed by the entire team during my visit to the workshop based in Toulouse,” he explains. I already feel part of the family!”

The team has already shown its enormous potential in past seasons in ELMS and at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and I really believe that we have the technical package and the crew to fight to win the championship! I look forward to working with Will, because he is a reference in the world of endurance in LMP2, and Julien is a very high level Silver with great experience in this car.

Gentleman driver Julien Canal is back, as is former single-seater driver Will Stevens.  “I am very happy to leave for a third consecutive year with the Panis Racing team as well as with Will Stevens,” continues Julien Canal. His talent as a developer and his speed are very important assets and we also welcome with great pleasure Nicolas Jamin who has proven to be a sure value in motorsport. Welcome to him! We have a very strong card to play in this 2020 ELMS championship.”

Note that during the 24 Hours of Le Mans (June 13-14), the Briton will give up his place to another driver, due to his commitments with the Jackie Chan DC Racing team in the World Endurance Championship (WEC). “We have grown a lot over these years and put many things in place to hope to achieve high goals this season in ELMS. We have an excellent team with Julien Canal who has been with me for 2 years, and newcomer Nico Jamin who I have known for a while. I’m sure he can bring a lot to the team.”

“We are happy to have succeeded in bringing together three high-profile drivers to tackle this new season, rejoices the main team, Olivier Panis. Will's (Stevens) level of performance is well established and his ability to transmit technical information to his teammates and the team is a major asset.

We will also be able to continue to benefit from the solidity and great experience in endurance of Julien (Canal), added to his complicity with Will these past two seasons. It is a great satisfaction to welcome Nico (Jamin) to complete this crew, this young driver has shown very good things in LMP2 and we know his team spirit and his ability to integrate. There is no doubt that this trio has the weapons to fight at the top of the table and win races! »
