The ELMS unveils its 2018 calendar

THEELMS presented its calendar for the 2018 season. The European ChampionshipEndurance kept the same sleeves as this year, even if slight differences appear.

The season will now begin at Paul-Ricard (Var) on April 14 and 15, with the official tests taking place on April 9 and 10 at Castellet replacing Monza (Italy). This is the first time since 2013 that the season has not started at Silverstone.

The British meeting was unsurprisingly moved to April 17-18, the same weekend as the WEC, after the events of Monza and Red Bull Ring (Austria). The season will end with the 4 Hours of Spa (Belgium) and the 4 Hours of Portimao (Portugal).

The Michelin Le Mans Cup will follow the ELMS in parallel with the exception of Silverstone and will obviously retain the Road To Le Mans from June 14 to 16.

“It is important for the ACO, promoter of the ELMS, to guarantee the best possible calendar for this healthy championship. We do not forget that a large proportion of the teams participating in the 24 Hours of Le Mans come from the ELMS. In this championship we find values dear to endurance and to the ACO”, comments Pierre Fillon, president of the ACO.

“The European Le Mans Series and the Michelin Le Mans Cup are two championships that give us full satisfaction, underlines Gérard Neveu, the general director of the ELMS. We ensure that budgets remain reasonable and also try to continue to satisfy the high-quality competitors who host its two series. With this 2018 calendar we have prioritized cost control, stability and quality. »
