The regulations for the Asian LM Sprint Cup are taking shape

On the sidelines of Asians Le Mans Series, endurance championship where LM P2, LM P3, CN and GT compete, the Automobile Club de l'Ouest recently announced the creation of a Sprint Cup series intended for LM P3, CN and GT Cup, as a slap in the face of the GT3 Le Mans Cup organized on the sidelines of theELMS.

The first bases of the championship's sporting regulations were unveiled this Wednesday by the ACO. The calendar will include three rounds all contested on the Sepang circuit in Malaysia and organized on May 27/29, 2016, August 7/9, 2016, September 2/4, 2016

Engaged drivers must be at least 16 years old and hold a valid International License Grade C or higher. A Bronze or Silver driver can ride alone. Platinum and Gold drivers are not allowed. Maximum two drivers per car will be allowed. A Bronze pilot will be mandatory within the crew. The second driver could be Bronze or Silver (depending on the FIA ​​categorization)

The format of the races will be established according to the following rules: Two free practice sessions of 45 minutes (to which paid sessions may be added), followed by two qualifying sessions of a maximum duration of 15 minutes. minutes (15? + 5? break + 15?). In the case of a two-driver crew, each driver qualifies and starts the race for which he qualified the car. One point will be awarded for pole position in each category.

Two 60-minute races with a mandatory pit stop of at least 120 seconds from the pit lane entry timing loop to the pit lane exit timing loop between the 25th and 35th minute. The starts will be launched in 2x2 formation and points for drivers and teams will be awarded in each category.

Here are the other key points of the regulation:

Tires:

For the first test:
Four sets of new slick tires per car. The number of sets of rain tires is not limited. Before the first event, a minimum set of rain tires must be purchased (and will not be taken back and reimbursed by Michelin if they have not been used) by the competitors for each car entered.

From the second test:
Three sets of new slick tires per car. The number of sets of rain tires is not limited. Tires from a previous event can be reused for the official free practice sessions of the following race.
The allocation of three sets of slick tires per car is effective from qualifying and covers race 1 and race 2 of each event. The number of sets of tires will not be limited during the paid test sessions taking place before the event.

Commitments:

Entries can be made for the season and at the race. Season entries will open on February 15, 2016 and close on May 8, 2016.

In LMP3, the entry fees are $11,900 per car until March 31, 2016 and $13,000 from April 1 to May 8, 2016. From the 3rd car per team, the amount of fees will be $10,000 per car (for 3rd and beyond).

In CN and GTCup, the entry fees are $10,900 per car until March 31, 2016 and $12,000 from April 1 to May 8, 2016. From the 3rd car per team the amount of fees will be $9,500 per car (for 3rd and beyond).

Race entries will open on February 15, 2016 and close 8 days before each event. For LMP3, CN and GTCup: entry fees are $4500 per car. From the 3rd car per team the fees are $3750 per car (for the 3rd and beyond).
