Manuel Maldonado in ELMS with United Autosports

Venezuelan driver Manuel Maldonado, cousin of Pastor, will be at the wheel of the No. 07 United Autosports Oreca 32 in European Le Mans Series this season alongside Job van Uitert. He will also sit in the seat of the Ligier JSP3 in the Asian Le Mans Series.

Maldonado began his career in karting, before moving on to the car and to participate in the Italian F4 championship. He completed three seasons in F3 British, most recently finishing sixth in the F3 championship in 2019. In 2020, Manuel drove in the Euroformula Open, taking four podiums and finishing fourth in the championship.

“Now is the time for me to begin a very exciting new chapter in my career,” commented Maldonado. “The race in the Asian Le Mans Series is crucial to start my endurance preparation. There is so much to learn in this new world of prototype endurance racing for me. I think it's a great opportunity to prepare for the European season. »

United Autosports remains on a championship double in ELMS and finished the 2020 season virtually undefeated.
