Nico Jamin places Duqueine Engineering on pole in Portimão

For a long time, Filipe Albuquerque (Ligier JS P217 n°22 – United Autosports) believed he held pole position for the 4 Hours of Portimão on his home soil in Portugal, the last round of the European Le Mans Series 2018.

But it was without counting on a final effort, and the only real trick launched, of Nico Jamin at the wheel of the #07 Oreca 29 – Duqueine Engineering, who came to steal pole in the final moments of the qualifying session.

The AKKA-ASP resident in Blancpain GT Series completed his benchmark lap in 1'33 "197 for Duqueine Engineering's first pole this year in LM P2, 60 thousandths ahead of Will Stevens (Ligier JS P217 n°23 – Panis Barthez Compétition), who also came ahead of Albuquerque in the final seconds.

Paul-Loup Chatin places the Oreca 07 n°28 – IDEC Sport on the second row alongside Albuquerque, while Jean-Eric Vergne hoists the Oreca 07 n°26 – G-Drive Racing, shared with the 2018 champions Andrea Pizzitola and Roman Rusinov, in fifth position.

Qualifying in LM P3 was disrupted by a red flag displayed following the exit of the No. 3 – EuroInternational Ligier JS P11 of Giorgio Mondini. In terms of timing, the best time went to the Norma M30 n°19 – Muller Racing of Lucas Légeret, author of a best lap in 1’40”715.

Matthieu Lahaye, despite a small deviation in trajectory, hoists the Norma M30 n°17 ​​– Ultimate to second place in the category at 61 thousandths. The top 3 in the category is completed by the No. 3 Ligier JS P9 – AT Racing of Mikkel Jensen, clocked at 284 thousandths.
