Pietro Fittipaldi at G-Drive in ELMS

Clearly, Pietro Fittipaldi has a busy schedule. Announced in IndyCar on the ovals instead of Romain Grosjean this season, the Brazilian will also drive in European Le Mans Series the Oreca 07 of G-Drive Racing n°25 operated by the Algarve Pro Racing team.

The grandson of the double world champion Formula 1 Emerson Fittipaldi did two freelances for Haas in the 2020 Sakhir and Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, replacing Romain Grosjean, and although he will continue with Haas as a reserve driver, he will therefore be entitled to a double racing program.

“This will be my first real campaign in LMP2 and I’m really looking forward to it,” commented Fittipaldi. Especially since my family has a history in sports car racing. My cousin Christian (Fittipaldi) is a three-time winner of the 24 Hours of Daytona and my uncle Max (Papis) has two Daytona victories under his belt, so they will definitely be able to give some good advice!

I have a lot of experience car, but I also have some knowledge in prototyping. However, I always take things step by step, as each car requires a different style and approach, and it can take time to adapt. »

Fittipaldi will be accompanied by John Falb and Rui Andrade, the third-place crew in the 2021 Asian Le Mans Series, and will digitally replace Franco Colapinto in the seat. The three men will aim for the crown in Pro-Am, the new category of LM P2.
