Prema didn't just secure the title in Portimão. The Italian team also won in style despite the rain.

Prema only needed one small point to validate the title ELMS. Signing pole position in Portimão would therefore have been synonymous with an anticipated coronation for the Italian team. Led by Louis Delétraz, the Oreca 07 – Gibson n°9 in trans colorsalpinecame just 0.072 seconds away from setting the best time in the qualifying session. The Swiss was thus beaten in the very last moments by his former rival from Formula 2 Jack Aitken, the Briton offering pole to Racing Team Turkey and postponing the expected consecration by one day.
