Sarah Bovy continues to write the history of her sport. After becoming the first woman to take pole position in the World ChampionshipEndurance during the 6 Hours of Monza earlier in the season, the Belgian became this Saturday the first polewoman in the history of theELMS. The pilot of Iron Ladies thus placed his Ferrari 488 GTE Evo rose to the top of the timesheet in the LM GTE category in 1:41.888, ahead of Giacomo Petrobelli (JMW Motorsport) by 0.028 seconds and Diego Alessi (Rinaldi Racing) by 0.127 seconds.

“I was disappointed not to get pole at Spa, but the team worked very hard to make the car as competitive as possible here, reacted Sarah Bovy after the session. We tried different things during testing. It's not an easy circuit, it's very technical. There are quite a few places to make mistakes. I managed to put in a good lap while avoiding any issues with the track limits. I want to thank the team, because the mechanics stayed very late last night working on the car. They did a fantastic job. This pole position is for them. »

This Sunday, Sarah Bovy and her teammates Dorian Pin and Michelle Gatting will try to secure their first victory in the championship. “I feel confident because I believe in the team. We prepared for the race by preparing for the long relays. It's always a great feeling to be in position and it means a championship point. I hope we can demonstrate all this hard work in the race this Sunday. This will be a very difficult race. Like I said, there are a lot of places to make a mistake. »

Meet at 14:00 p.m. French time for the start of the 4 Hours of Portimão, the final round of the 2022 ELMS season.
