Silverstone: Oreca at the forefront

Oreca is definitely at the heart of the news, the day after the announcement of Romain Dumas' participation in the Petit race Le Mans within the Oreca team. It is this time on the track that the Var team stands out, obtaining pole position on the Silverstone circuit, where the last round of the Le Mans Series will take place this Sunday.

« After the pole in Portimão, we confirm, declares the pole sitter Nicolas lapierre. During testing, we made good progress yesterday, but it was more difficult this morning with a track lacking grip. The team made the right decisions, as evidenced by the pole position. We have top speed, tomorrow we will also need reliability and good traffic management. These will be two determining parameters. »

While the Aston Martin have displayed very good consistency during this LMS season and the English intended to shine at home, it is ultimately Oreca which, for the moment, is doing well. We don't play the championship, tempers Lapierre. So we have only one goal: to impose ourselves. We are going to attack for six hours and not give up! »

The Oreca 01 is ahead of the Aston Martin n°007 and n°009, the n°007 playing in the championship, of which its drivers currently hold the lead. Jan Charouz, Tomas Enge and Stefan Mücke have every chance of winning the title at the end of the race, since they only need to finish in the Top 5 to ensure it. As for the Pescarolo of Jean-Christophe Boullion and Christophe Tinseau, who are also competing for the drivers' title, the latter seems to be flying away. Jean-Christophe Boullion made a mistake during qualifying, depriving the crew of reference times. The race will start on Sunday at 12:35 p.m. (French time).
