United Autosports dominates EL1 at Le Castellet

That's it, the season ELMS is thrown. The first free practice session for the 4 Hours of Le Castellet, the opening round of the 2020 campaign, has just ended.

Queen of free practice, the United Autosports team placed its two Oreca 07s at the forefront, the No. 22 from Hanson-Albuquerque ahead of the No. 1 from Brundle-Owen-Van Uitert in 39'238. The top three is completed by DragonSpeed's No. 32 Oreca entrusted to Cullen-Rojas-Hanley.

Followed by Cool Racing (Stone-Borga-Coigny) and G-Drive Racing (De Vries-Jensen-Rusinov).

In LM P3, United Autosports also won thanks to the No. 320 Ligier JS P2 of Gamble-Wheldon-Boyd. Credited with a 1'49"565, it precedes three other Ligiers, that of Realteam Racing of Garcia-Droux, that of RLR MSport of Jacobsen-Dayson-Harper Ellam and that of Inter Europol Competition of Moore-Hippe.

The first Duqueine D08 is 5th. This is the No. 7 of Nielsen Racing entrusted to Wells-Noble, which still concedes 1”6 to the reference mark.

The best GTE time is to be attributed to the Porsche 911 RSR n°77 from Dempsey-Proton Racing. With a lap completed in 1'51"197, the German team was ahead by 0"7 and 1"5 two Ferrari 488 GTE, the No. 60 of Iron Lynx (Schiavoni-Pianezzola-Piccini) and the No. 55 of Spirit of Race (Cameron-Griffin-Scott).

Aligned in the No. 93 Porsche, actor Michael Fassbender set his fastest lap in 1'55"200, 2"5 behind his teammate Richard Lietz.

That's all for today, see you tomorrow at 9 a.m. for the second free practice session then at 13:40 p.m. for qualifying.
