United Autosports on pole at the 4 Hours of Le Castellet

Qualifying for the 4 Hours of Le Castellet has just ended, with very summery weather, which is not the case in IMSA in Sebring or even in F1 in Budapest.

The GTEs were the first to take to the track and pole position went to the Ferrari of Kessel Racing led for the occasion by Nicola Cadei, who teams up with Michael Broniszewski and David Perel. The 488 GTE n°74 was ahead of theAston Martin Vantage AMR #98 of Ross Gunn and 0”051 Matthew Griffin, who is racing against the #488 55 GTE of Spirit of Race.

In LM P3, the advantage went to the No. 320 United Autosports Ligir JS P2 entrusted this afternoon to Wayne Boyd. Credited with a 1'48"315, the Briton was 0"084 ahead of the #08 Duqueine D4 (Laurents Hörr) and 0"142 ahead of the #320 RLR Motorsport JS P15 (Malthe Jacobsen), seen stopped in trackside at the end of the session. The first seven grouped in 0”7, the battle promises to be tough tomorrow.

Finally, as is customary, it was the LM P2 which closed these qualifications. On the wire, Filipe Albuquerque won 0 »2 Nyck de Vries to offer the No. 07 United Autosports Oreca 22 the first pole of the season.

The top three is completed by the second United Autosports car with Alex Brundle at the wheel. Followed by Paul-Loup Chatin (Oreca 07 n°28 / IDEC Sport) and Ben Hanley (Oreca 07 n°21 / DragonSpeed).

Nicolas lapierre (Oreca 07 / Cool Racing) is sixth ahead of Will Stevens (Oreca 07 n°23 / Panis Racing), Loïc duval and Gabriel Aubry, who both defend the colors of a struggling Algarve Pro Racing, and not only because of Goodyear tires that are behind the Michelins.

But all this is very anecdotal, because one of the keys tomorrow will be precisely this management of the rubber, always damaged on the Var track, even more so after the resurfacing of the track.

The start of the race will be given tomorrow, Sunday July 18.
