The BR01 – Nissan LM P2 n°21 from the AF Racing team (new name of SMP Racing), entrusted to Mikhail Aleshin, Kirill Ladygin and Victor Shaytar, dominated the first free practice session on the Var track of Paul Ricard in European Le Mans Series.
With a reference lap completed in 1'47″986, the trio precedes the Oreca03R of the Murphy Prototypes of Berthon – Lyons – Patterson by 255 thousandths. The Graeves Motorsport Gibson 015s of Hirsch – Wirdheim – Lancaster moved up to third place just under nine tenths behind and remained the last car below second.
In LM P3, Team LNT achieved a double with the #2 Ginetta-Nissan of Gaëtan Paletou and Michael Simpson ahead of the sister car of Chris Hoy and Charlie Robertson.
In GTE, AF Corse stood out with the best time for the Ferrari 458 Italia n°51 of Matteo Cressoni, Andrea Bertolini and Peter Mann, while in GTC, TDS Racing took the lead thanks to the BMW Z4 of Dino Lunardi, Eric Dermont and Franck Perera.
