Mont-Dore, reference for the Hill Climb

The Mont-Dore Chambon-sur-Lac hill climb is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful events on the calendar.

With its historic route on the D36 departmental road which runs from Moneaux, commune of Chambon-sur-Lac, to the summit of the Col de la Croix St-Robert towards Mont-Dore, there are 5075 meters of pure adrenaline awaiting more than 200 competitors this weekend. With a departure at an altitude of 1070 meters and an arrival at 1451 meters, the 27 turns of the route distribute an average elevation gain of more than 7,5%.

Since 1961, this race has been an integral part of the heritage of Sancy, always supported by volunteers from the massif. An immutable route where no turn has been modified since its origin 61 years ago. The site fits perfectly into the ecosystem of the volcano park thanks to the close collaboration for 3 years between the ASA du Mont-Dore under the direction of Patrick Bourguignon and the PHA teams masterfully led by Claude Michy.
