Rallying is an automobile discipline in which drivers and their co-drivers compete in timed events on closed roads. A rally is made up of different special stages and the addition of the times for each special stage allows the fastest crew to win. There are different championships in rallying, from the WRC (world championship) to local rallies.
Getting started in rallying is both very simple and very complicated at the same time. On paper, the hardest part is getting a car. According to several sources, the first form of rally dates back to 1894, during a Paris-Rouen. But it was in 1911, with the creation of the legendary Monte-Carlo Rally, that the discipline was truly born. The goal at the time: to reach Monaco from different cities in Europe. It was only around the 1950s, with the organization by the FIA ​​of the European Championship (1953), on the other hand, that the more supervised rally as we know it today really saw the light of day, with the roads closed and service parks.
Concerning the WRC, the broadcasting rights are held by Canal + in France. Since this season, the encrypted channel has given greater importance to rallying by broadcasting the majority of each event of the season. Some rallies are even broadcast in full.
